Three new fishes

July 22, 2009

Recently I have been given three fighting fish. Two of them short tail and one crown tail. I love the crown tail because it comes in the most wonderful mustard gas colour. I normally do not keep crown tail much, but this might be a keeper. It has good attitude.

At first, I was told the short tails were female. My friend swore he saw the ‘pearl’. But the moment I put them in tanks, they began to build bubble nest. Now I am itching for a female fish.

Now how do you compare gender in fighting fish. The easiest way is looking at the finnage, especially the ventral fins. Female usually have bow-tie like ventral fins.

Second thing you look at is the body shape. Female are generally tubbier.

Thank You!!!!
